Thank you Andre for your (very!) detailed response. While I realize that I could script something for this type of functionality, I find it frustrating that this very basic function is not built in to the UI. My users are absolutely incredulous that they cannot do this in their mail databases. For myself, there is not always a distinguishing criteria for documents I want to select, other than the fact that I can see them listed together on the screen. I'll try out your suggested method though.
